THE IDEAL SOLUTION.
THE RIGHT EXPERIENCE.
THE PERFECT TIME.
ComposiPole’s vision is to replace 150 year-old conventional pole methods and materials with high-strength, durable, economical, and sustainable composite poles. Our specific expertise will enable us to leverage decades of experience in advanced composite manufacturing technologies, along with the latest material sciences to bring an eco-conscious, competitively priced, lightweight alternative to market.
THE EVOLUTION OF UTILITY POLES
Wood: A great idea… in 1850.
Wood utility pole issues:
Average life, 20-50 years depending on location typical wood coatings:
- Creosote (OSHA-restricted carcinogen)
- Pentachlorophenol (EU-banned)
- Copper Naphthenate (Indoor use restricted)
- CCA, Chromate Copper Arsenate (EPA-restricted)
Weight issues:
- Anywhere from 800 to 1200lbs per pole
- Higher deployment/erection costs
- Location issues/Right-of-way
Timber issues:
- Average US forest density: 120 trees/acre
- Average Yellow Pine growth rate: 2’/yr – Overall cost/Life cycle cost
- Average cost of a single pole: $1K
- Average landed cost, after preparation, shipping, installation: Wood $6-8K / Steel (for comparison) $16-18K
Composipole: A World-Changing Solution in 2020.

Composipole technology turns a relic into a revolution.
Since the first wooden poles appeared on the scene in the mid-1800s, utility poles have remained virtually unchanged. Until now. Composipole’s innovative combination of engineering, materials, construction, and manufacturing process is turning a nineteenth century relic into a 21st century revolution. The magic starts with the materials.
MATERIALS
Composite fibers made from Igneous-based rock
- S-Glass structural benefits at an E-Glass cost
- Down-selected fiber commonly used for composite rebar
- Natural occurring, sustainable resource
- Ideal combination of performance and price
- Non-combustible, chemical and UV-resistant
- Dielectric
- Result: A stronger, lighter pole that is REACH-compliant*
- *Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals
[EU regulation that addresses the production and use of chemical substances and their potential impacts on both human health and the environment.]
- *Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals
Bio-resins with added fire-retardant compound
- UL94 V-O rated
- Self-extinguishes < 10 secs.
- Self-extinguishes after 2 min. at
2000 deg. F, no flame propagation
- Withstands extremely high temperatures for extended periods
PROCESSES
Manufacturing processes and facilities deliver consistent quality
and high throughput.
Immediately:
- Standard filament winding process
- Conventionally wound: 8-hour cycle time with low tow count
- Ability to adjust and modify process to meet or exceed customer-specific requirements
- Mechanical and hardware interaction testing
Soon:
- High-speed filament winding process
- Ring-wound with 15-minute cycle time and high tow count
- High-speed process can be easily duplicated among facilities throughout the country to facilitate rapid, efficient manufacture and transport to pole locations
Aesthetics:
- Absolutely straight
- No degradation, no bending, sagging
- Color, finish, strength, and form remain absolutely consistent over the life of the pole
Proprietary Processes (IP)
We have proprietary processes that cover our ability to address the need for high throughput.
Available proprietary fire-retardant resin satisfies specific requirements in telecom and utility industries. This will be especially important as telecom redeploys for 5G.
